Say What?!?

It was just one of those days....

Me: Your not the boss of me!

Kai: Nope, just co-owner.

Leaving on a jet plane...in May!

The hubby and I purchased plane tickets for my trip home in May this month. I am excited about getting to see my parents, grandmothers, and friends. I arrived in Helsinki in June of 2007 and haven't been home since. Of course there was the little matter of getting my residency before going anywhere, and now that I have that it is back to the States with me for a month. I know a month doesn't sound like enough time to see everyone I want/need to see, but I would miss my husband too much if I stayed away any longer. Sappy, huh? Oh well, I'll be back in the States for Christmas too, so if I don't get to make my rounds to see everyone in May, I will finish them up then!

Happy Birthday!

or Hyvää Syntymäpäivää to my hubby! We were discussing it and we think that this is the first time we've been together on his birthday. If so, then it's about time! I love you tons!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Don't forget to wear your green! You'd think with green being my favorite color I would have something laying around the place to wear! Unlike the lovely Libby over at Schoolbooks and Shoes I do not have any socks for this holiday! I have them for every other holiday with earrings to match!! What is wrong with me. Never fear though, I have a cute little green scarf that I can wear around for the day. Whew! No getting pinched for me then!

I love my husband..

Short phone conversation that took place while I was walking to meet my husband. There was a lot of traffic, so it was understandable that he couldn't understand me.

Him: Where are you at now?

Me: I just passed the old person home.

(What he heard: I just passed the old person.)

Him: Old people are not landmarks! Where are you?

Thank you Chloe!

I've have had the pleasure of wolfing down some butter flavored Quaker Oats grits the past couple of mornings for breakfast, as well as having some skittles to snack on later in the evening. Thanks to miss Chloe over at English Tea, I have had a little taste of home to enjoy daily. Not to mention some lovely note cards as well! Thanks tons Chloe!

Winter comes in March

My husband I and walked to the shopping center the long way yesterday so I could take some pictures. It takes 30 minutes the long way, about 5 minutes when we walk the usual way. Most of these are just snow pictures, but I did take shopping center and big building pictures too. In one you can see where they have a crosswalk blocked off. They are currently building an underground tunnel there. It will be nice when they are finished. There ís also one picture I took at a gas station. Unleaded gas is 1.43 Euros a liter. Right now 1 euro is equal ti $1.51. 3.8 liters make a galleon, so here it is about $8 for gas. Or something close to that at least. Anyway, enjoy the pictures.

This path either leads to a French or Swedish school.
I don't remember which. It is right at our apt. 3 min. walk

Our local Pizza Hut!

Gas is 1.43 Euors a liter

Part of the golf course 4 minutes from our apt.

Having Finland close to Home

Someone on the forum that I am a member of here in Finland posted a great link to an online store that I didn't know existed. I have been wondering a lot lately about how I would get little odds and ends that I love here in Finland when I go back to the States. Well, this site answers a few of those questions for me. Even though I won't be able to order everything that I love here, I will be able to get candy, chocolate, and iittala glass items. The site is Memories of Finland, and I have fallen in love with it! I'm sure that my husband will enjoy ordering his salmiakki (which I find disgusting!). It is salty licorice. I deteste licorice so needless to say I find salmiakki much worse. Although the stuff is absolutely loved by Finns. More for them if I don't like it I suppose. Anyway, if anyone is curious as to little odds and ends that Finland has to offer you can check out the site!
