Yet again...

another day of doing nothing. I don't know what has gotten into me!!! Well, I did take out the trash and go to the grocery store, but that doesn't really count now does it? I mean, seriously, I am in a really cool new country, I should be going out and finding some sort of trouble to be getting into. I should go out and find new stores to frequent and the like. Well, maybe that is a task for tomorrow.

I miss Jess!

My beautiful best friend sent me a few more pictures of Cale. He is 2 months old now and 13lbs. Not to mention that he is exactly 24 inches! He is going to be a big boy. Which is good considering that Jess is just 5 feet tall herself! It's a good thing he is going to take after his daddy!

They dress him so cute! Now if only he would look at the camera!

Bored!

Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing exciting has happened around the Lilja household this week. I can't even think of anything to blog about. Other than clean and do usual chores the most productive thing the hubby and I have managed to do was going for a walk at 7pm, in the dark, and cold, for 35 minutes around our street which is a big circle!!! I need to think of some crafty ideas!

Walk

I went for a little walk around my apartment building a day ago and took some pictures while I was at it. We are expecting more snow this weekend, and I hope it just keeps on coming. I took these pictures at about 4 pm.

In front of the building.

Down the street towards the flower stand.

Behind my building.

Walking towards the street.

When the zoom lens on my camera decided to freeze I decided it was time for me to go back inside. So I tried to for about 10 minutes. On the outside door to the apartment building there is a number pad where you have to enter the code to get into the building. Well, I kept entering it over and over again. I think it didn't like me. To top it off I didn't bring my keys out for whatever reason and I just so happened to leave my cell phone in the apt. I mean why would I need that to take pictures. It was sad really because I can see my apt. door from the entrance door, and all I wanted to do was get inside. Anyway, the keypad finally decided that it had had enough fun and laughter for the day at my expense and let me back into my beloved building. So I learned two things that day. 1) Always take my keys and cell phone with me when I go out, and 2) the entrance door to my building is evil.

What was that you said dear?

"You know I like that Hello Kitty, even if I bought it for you for Christmas." Hm, I think my husband is a little off his rocker this week. It is a nice HK though!!

Missing in Action

I know it is like I have fallen off the blogosphere, but I am still here. Here in the Lilja home we have been, and still are, slightly under the weather. I haven't felt like even trying to post. I will be back shortly, I am certainly not just going to disappear. Cheers.

Finally!

Today I got my original marriage certificate back in the mail. I am not sure where it has been all this time, I am just glad to have it back safe and sound. The hubby and I had to send it off when I was in the U.S. and applying for my residency. Since we cancelled that first application in order to get my passport back for me to travel here I guess they didn't think to send that back. It has been nearly a year since we had mailed it off!!! A whole year! Luckily my husband finally remembered (after a *little* nagging) to write someone and find it. And what do you know, five days later and it is back in my possession. What luck I've been having lately!!!

*Big Cheesy Grin*

I am all smiles today, or at least I would be if my gums wouldn't freeze from the cold!!! Before today I was simply, Stacy McCaskill-Lilja...crazy North Carolinian girl applying for Finnish Residency. But today I am, Stacy McCaskill-Lilja...crazy North Carolinian girl with Finnish Resident Status! Not only can I stay in the country, but these crazy people also put on my permit that I have the right to work! Yippee! Needless to say, today is a very, very, very happy day for me. Now I am going to go find all the warm clothes I can and put them on, then snuggle up under my wool blanket and have a Lost and Hornblower watching marathon with my hubby. Cheers!

Back at home!

The holidays are over and it is good to be back in my apartment and sleeping in my own bed once again! The hubby and I had a really good Christmas, and I spent New Years at my in-laws with some of his family. I managed to sleep in three different rooms, on three different floors of the house, in three days. It was eventful I'm tellin ya. The hubby had to work New Years, so I didn't see him until the 2nd. I had a blast with his family though. Not sure what all was going on all the time, but who cares, it was enjoyable. Now I am looking forward to the great new year ahead.

Hopefully, I will know something from the Immigration Police about my residency this week. If that isn't the case then I should at least have my resident status by sometime next week (fingers crossed). I so badly want to enroll into some sort of courses here. I want to be back in a classroom. I don't care if it is as the teacher or a student or both for that matter, it is just the place I want to be. I am also going to try and visit home around May if at all possible. I would like to go back to France as well if we can work it into our budget. Everything we do depends on how financially stable we are. My SIL did ask if we'd like to visit France sometime in the Spring though, so again my fingers are crossed. So...that is pretty much all that is currently happening in my neck of the woods.

Oh yeah, Libby and ElleBee, thanks so much for the lovely Christmas cards you sent my way. They are still on display here in the apartment for all to see!

Cheers!
